Not sure if you have ever heard of Bobby Orr, the 1st ever generational talent?

Also, Bedard would be a good fit for the league, in either Columbus or Anaheim

You omitted Bobby Orr, arguably one of the top three greatest players in NHL history. As for Bedard, anywhere he lands the league will be better off with him in it. Columbus or Arizona would definitely help those franchises.

Complete joke if he ends up in Columbus, Anaheim, San Jose, or Arizona. Would love to see him in Chicago or Montreal. Dream would be with the Canucks!

Montréal could use a jolt. I am sure the league would want him to go somewhere that will revitalize a franchise. Chicago needs it. Vancouver hometown boy would be a story.

Just not Arizona. That'd be sad.

How are we days away from the sweepstakes of the decade? The lottery is 49 days from today?? And this decade included McDavid.

This was an underrated line:

.."but places like Columbus, Arizona and San Jose could really use suck a player to make their market more major…"

He's not gonna get nearly the room in the NHL as he does now. He's quite small, especially for a top C, and isn't somebody who makes space for himself physically as a Crosby or Marchand does. I am worried he doesn't get to use his shot as much to be a top goal scorer because he could end up getting boxed out of a lot of situations, relegated to periphery of play, and/or pushed around kinda easily - especially if he stays at C.

He is young though, and could grow a bit more, of course. If he can get 2+ inches and 15-20lbs, then that would change my thoughts and I could see him very differently...otherwise, he seems more of a Patrick Kane - which is really good/HOF material, but as a winger not a top C.

Of the realistic landing spots VAN with Kuzmenko and Pettersson would be fun to watch, or if he grows 2+inches +15-20lbs, playing between Gaudreau and Laine would be pretty solid for a 2-3 of years before they start declining a lot in skill. If he gains that size though, I think any place he would be somewhat successful. Perhaps he goes to ARZ and they flip to TOR for Matthews (to stir up the commentary, lol)?

Being said, if he stays around the same size, it would be fun to see him on the wing in ANA with Zegras who has sick puck skills and is a player who he could grow with as well...assuming they can land a big, rough, skilled winger to play front of the net/dig into the corners.

In terms of the game overall, it'd be better if he was on the east cost in the US.

Philly doesnt deserve him, so I'd say one of Detroit or Columbus.

Chicago would be a slam dunk, the NHL would love that.

One under the radar team if they drop more would be Nashville.

Pittsburgh playing like they've been playing could get them into the hunt. Then Bettman can rig another lottery for us. We havent gotten a superstar since 2005, we are due.

Not sure if Bettman has decided yet where he wants Bedard to go, I would assume he would want Montreal.

If we are solely concerned about benefitting the league then eliminate all the Canadian teams.

one of the worst places "for the league".

Montreal is already a solid franchise and it causes no new interest/growth in places where hockey is not as ingrained as it is in Montreal.

Jeff Gorton still has a leprechaun up his ass, so Mtl win it again. Hopefully Bedard goes west, we’re already loaded in the east

Philly, and NOT just because I am a Flyers fan.

Philadelphia hockey is becoming irrelevant and they need something to bring them back. It's good for them and good for the league.

He absolutely can NOT be wasted in Arizona playing in front of 5000 people.

it's always better for league interest when Montreal is good.

What frequently happens when southern markets land superstars is media ignores them anyway since those teams don't garner many eyes to begin with.

The Thrashers were rolling Ilya Kovalchuk and Marian Hossa out there and nobody gave a poop because the team still stunk.

To capture imaginations you want iconic players in iconic jerseys. There aren't many of those. NHL fan bases are tribal. You want a player in a place that will have overarching interest and Montreal can provide that better than nearly any other team in the league.

When was the last time there was an actual superstar in Montreal? It's been decades.

Philly is an interesting choice, but while it'll certainly revitalize the franchise, I'm not certain it does much for the league outside of Pennsylvania.

Again, you want something that can transcend the fairly segregated nature of NHL fanbases. Montreal can do that better than any other team in the league can.

Historic rivalries with Toronto and Boston help.

From a standpoint of the environment? Yes. But seeing Bedard develop with Keller and Cooley would be cool.
